🌊☀️📢 Milestone Alert 📢☀️🌊 Oceans of Energy has commenced international roll-out of #OffshoreSolar! We have successfully completed launch of the North Sea Three (#NS3) offshore solar farm in the port of Oostende, #Belgium. This marks a major milestone in which we celebrate our anniversary simultaneously. Oceans of Energy has entered our 9th year of existence, #100% dedicated offshore solar development, a strong and unique track record of 4-years of offshore operations in high waves, 2 technology certifications, 1 commercial contract and operational experience in both #Belgium and in the #Netherlands! Our #Team develops, builds, installs, and operates #OffshoreSolar farm technology and projects fully in-house. Our projects are developed with large emphasis on environmental aspects and exploring nature-enhancing opportunities. It is the Oceans of Energy design philosophy to build scaleable, lightweight solar farms that use the water surface for carrying its own weight, and move with the waves, like a waterlily does. Our technology’s standardization, modularity and simplicity made it possible to execute the port assembly of the #NS3 farm in less than one day. Such highly efficient operations of assembling a complete offshore structure, from factory into the water, is unique and allows us to scale up to 200 MW formats. #OffshoreSolar is very interesting for a country like #Belgium, which is densely populated and which has limited sea space for vast amounts of offshore wind farms. By adding offshore solar in-between sea surface of offshore wind turbines, up to #5x as much renewable energy can be harvested in the same area. We are therefore excited to explore the possibilities of offshore solar as a #Gamechanger for the Belgian Renewable Energy Transition. The #NS3 offshore solar demonstrator is planned to become the first grid connected offshore solar farm in the world at the Blue Accelerator - Maritime Innovation and Development Platform and part of EU-SCORES, supported by CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. The in-port assembly milestone is a significant step forward towards the goal of EU-SCORES to integrate offshore solar and wave energy into future multi-source parks and we are hugely proud of the EU-SCORES partners. Follow Oceans of Energy, EU-SCORES & DMEC (Dutch Marine Energy Centre) for more updates on this exciting deployment! #OffshoreSolar scaling up to #Gigawatts! Oceans of Energy together with fifteen leading European partners announce the start of an EU #JointIndustryProject, in which #offshoresolar technology is scaled up to standard formats of 150 MW enabling to build #GigawattScale farms. These building blocks are to become a new standard in offshore energy farms. Placing solar farms within offshore wind farms makes better use of the sea space, increases energy output, provides more continuous power over the seasons, and will drive down costs for green electricity production and the energy system. “Oceans of Energy is proud to advance offshore solar further towards a real #gamechanger in the renewable energy transition, by bringing these standardized, large scale offshore solar farms to the world,” says Allard van Hoeken, Founder and CEO of Oceans of Energy. He continues: “Offshore solar is becoming a major contributor to the energy transition in the North Sea. We are kickstarting the development of a standardized offshore solar building block, which fits right in-between four offshore wind turbines. This allows for optimized #MultiSourceOffshoreEnergy farms without competing for scarce and limited land space.”. Oceans of Energy is a pioneer in offshore solar, the company deployed the first in the world offshore solar farm for high waves in the rough Dutch North Sea in 2019. The company is building the first offshore solar farm to be installed within the Shell/Eneco Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm in the #NorthSea. Its mission is to bring clean and abundant renewable energy in harmony with nature to people living along the coasts worldwide. “This project will contribute to enable feasible business cases of solar renewable energy offshore”, states Andrea Bombardi, Carbon Reduction Excellence Executive Vice President of RINA. “RINA, thanks to the leading experience in the provision of energy yield assessment services for solar plants and in floating offshore systems, will pioneer the development of a new predictive yield model applicable to this emerging technology. We will bring to the project our competence in ground-native solutions offshore, in static and dynamic analysis on dynamic export cables, in comparative analysis between different power export layouts, in the definition of recycling strategies for PVs and electrical components at the end of their life, and in the coordination of EU-funded projects.” The BAMBOO Project, funded by CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, had a successful kick-off meeting Campusatsea. #POSAnniversary #OffshoreSolar #RenewableEnergy #CollaborationInnovation #energytransition
